How to Connect Your Scent Diffuser to an HVAC System

You will need:

• HVAC-compatible HVAC Scenting diffuser
• fragrance oil
• scent tubing
• push-in duct fitting
• drill and appropriate drill bit
• measuring tape
• screwdriver
• utility knife or tubing cutter
• sealing tape, if required

For the safest and cleanest installation, turn off power to the HVAC system before drilling into the duct. If you are unsure about your system layout, consult a licensed HVAC professional.

The HVAC fan must be running whenever the scent diffuser is operating. Continuous airflow carries the fragrance through the ductwork and distributes it evenly throughout the connected rooms.

An HVAC-connected diffuser may require an intensity setting approximately 10% to 15% higher than a standalone setup. This is because the fragrance must travel through a larger volume of ductwork before reaching the rooms.

Begin with a low setting and increase the intensity gradually until you reach the desired fragrance level.

Position the diffuser close to the HVAC ductwork, with enough space for the machine, tubing and power connection.

For best results, connect the scent tube to the supply-air duct after the air handler and before the first major air register or duct branch. Keep the opening far enough from the air handler to avoid interference with internal components.

Keep the plastic scent tube as short and as close to vertical as possible. Avoid loops, sharp bends or sagging sections, as fragrance oil may collect inside the lower portions of the tube and affect diffuser performance.

Insert approximately 3 to 4 inches of tubing into the supply-air duct. Position the tube at a slight downward angle in the direction of airflow to support smooth fragrance movement.

Do not allow the tubing to touch internal HVAC components.

Seal the duct opening with HVAC-rated aluminum foil tape to prevent air leakage. Secure the tubing to a stable surface so it cannot move, bend or become disconnected during operation.

Install the diffuser in a clean, dry and well-ventilated location away from moisture, excessive heat and direct contact with HVAC condensation.

Place the unit near a properly grounded 110V electrical outlet and ensure it remains accessible for fragrance refills, maintenance and adjustments.

• Connect to the supply-air side.
• Position the tube near the air handler.
• Keep the tube short and secure.
• Insert only the recommended length into the duct.
• Run the HVAC fan while scenting.

• Installing into the return-air duct without guidance.
• Allowing the tube to touch internal components.
• Bending or pinching the tube.
• Operating the diffuser while airflow is off.
• Placing the diffuser where oil could spill onto electronics.
